ALARM Virtual Conference: The balancing act

The premier event for risk management and insurance professionals, our Conference aims to empower delegates to better deliver outstanding service to their organisations.

For the first time in 30 years ALARM brings you a five-day virtual Conference the whole week of 21-25 June.

This year beaming into your homes will be an array of excellence, celebrating the balancing act we have all been performing since spring 2020.

Whether it’s the extra work pressures of balancing pandemic imperatives with business as usual, or merely maintaining a work/life balance, the challenges of COVID-19 have tested personal and organisational agility and creativity, resourcefulness and resilience.

Conference 2021 reflects the breadth of issues and responses that have emerged in the risk management of public services in the UK. Sponsors and practitioners will rehearse existing themes with new solutions as well as new topics and different conundrums with best practice guidance.

This year’s Conference may be online but what hasn’t changed is the guarantee of quality, relevant and targeted support for all ALARM members, plus a valuable opportunity for virtual networking, sharing and learning.

On offer is five days of sessions, including breakout opportunities and informal gatherings, all to get the ALARM membership thinking and relaxing together again.

This new style Conference is unique, with many opportunities for learning, continuing professional development, expert insight, live participation, and networking with members and sponsors. And it’s going to be fun too, with a daily quiz and two daily wellbeing sessions to de-stress.

In 2020, over 200 people dialled in on each of ALARM’s two virtual conferences, and the 32 webinars we hosted for members proved very popular, with great member feedback.

All extra events and benefits this year are included in the 2021 membership fee.

How will the ALARM virtual Conference work?

The Conference app is back! It will include:

  • Conference timetable with session and log-in info, plus presenter and sponsor details. (Updated regularly to include changes.)
  • Session presentations to download, with presenter biographies and contact details.
  • Exhibitor directory, with an individual page for each exhibitor.
  • 2021 editions of stronger to download.
  • 2020 – 2021 published guidance documents to download.
  • A list of all delegates, with chat function for private messaging.

The app will be live for the week of Conference. The daily live interactive sessions will be hosted by the ALARM Office through Zoom.

Sessions will be recorded and downloadable from the ALARM website from the week following Conference up to the end of 2021.

Last but not least, there is more exciting news to come on the virtual ALARM awards in September and (hopefully) a face-to-face celebration of ALARM’s 30th birthday in London in December. Watch this space!
