Salary: £49,794 - £54,582 per annum, pro rata

We are looking for an experienced manager with drive, passion and resilience to take direct responsibility for the management of the council’s corporate risk and insurance function. The Risk & Insurance Team works within the Finance Service, managing and overseeing the council’s insurance arrangements and delivering the Council’s Risk Management strategy.

This includes procuring suitable insurance policies, handling claims made against the council and working closely with key stakeholders to facilitate the identification and assessment of risk and act as a ‘Critical Friend’, providing comprehensive advice, support and challenge in relation to risk responses.

You will manage the day-to-day activities of Risk and Insurance, and you will work with the Accountancy Services Manager and Audit Services Manager to provide great leadership in delivering excellent outcomes, whilst helping to maintain a strongly risk-focused culture in a council that is ambitious for the future. You will have the support of a part time Risk and Insurance officer.

The council looks to the person in this post to be a trusted and dependable advisor to members and senior managers across the organisation on all matters relating to risk and insurance, including a sound understanding of the insurable risks facing a modern council and best practice approaches to addressing them. You will ideally have knowledge and understanding of local government risk management frameworks, and experience of producing and presenting risk information to senior stakeholders, and be able to bring your demonstrable experience and knowledge of insurance markets and claim handling processes to deliver an effective, timely and efficient service.

This post is offered on a part time flexible basis with a mix of home and office based working available.
