Session
Mark will look at the contribution that effective risk management is expected to make to meeting that duty as a key characteristic of a well-functioning authority. As well as what are viewed as indicators of potential failures in governance and risk management arrangements, according to the statutory guidance released in May 2024. The interactive discussion will focus on how risk managers can demonstrate effective risk management practices are in place, to provide adequate assurance to relevant stakeholders in an increasingly challenging environment that has seen several local authorities issued with best value interventions in the past few years.
While the session is focused on local authority setting, the risk management themes raised will be relevant to all public sector bodies.
