Session
This session starts with a seemingly innocuous fight in school between two pupils which involves gang issues. It rapidly escalates due to poor handling of the investigation by the school. The scenario develops in four stages with audience discussion and participation at the end of each stage. A series of claims ensue including discrimination under the Equality Act, Human Rights Act and data protection issues. The takeaways and learnings include the proper investigation of issues in an efficient and sensitive manner to minimise the risk of secondary claims, as well as an understanding of the relevant duty of care and safeguarding issues.
