Session
In this session Alison and Tanya will provide an overview of current trends and the legal position in this area and use case studies to illustrate how to manage the risks arising both before and after a claim is received.Tanya is an experienced litigator and has over 30 years of experience representing clients in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Courts. She also provides pre-litigation advice and ad-hoc guidance to clients in non-litigated matters. Tanya’s practice focusses on both insured and self-insured public sector bodies and organisations with a caseload consisting solely of high-value and high-profile matters. As well as dealing with a wide range of personal injury and catastrophic claims arising from road traffic, public liability and employers liability accidents, Tanya acted as the principal solicitor on behalf of a number of clients at the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry.
She is also frequently instructed by both insurers and self-insured organisations in respect of historical and recent abuse claims. Tanya provides pragmatic and commercial legal advice in respect of such claims given their nature and the need for sensitive handling.
